DeFranco's Training NEWS!

I apologize, but I did not have any time to answer any questions this week. We have been extremely busy training athletes and preparing for our summer program; plus, the pre-production for our summer documentary has taken up every free second of my time. I did not anticipate this much work BEFORE they even started shooting, but I also didn’t realize how “for real” this thing is going to be! (I don’t want to over-hype it before they even start shooting, but rest assured this is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen! Trust me on this one.)

Anyway, I want to make sure everyone knows that we’re still gettin’ the job done “in the trenches”. Below you will find a little taste of what went on in the gym this week; two more long-time records went down and the summer didn’t even start yet!

Enjoy the videos and I will be back in a week or two with an all-new ASK JOE column!

Trap Bar Deadlift Record
College Division, under 220 lbs.

Below you will see a college athlete “warming up” with 585 lbs. in the trap bar deadlift. After this set, he got 605 lbs. to break the old record of 600 lbs. (I apologize, but I accidentally erased the 605 lb. deadlift. It was one of the best lifts I’ve ever witnessed; it was so impressive that I was showing everyone at the gym throughout the day and unfortunately I accidentally hit “erase” instead of “play” while showing one athlete. I wanted to kick myself!!!) But don’t worry, this was the athlete’s FIRST TIME performing a trap bar deadlift with us…and he will be with us all summer!!

Anyway, here’s 585 lbs. performed by a 211 lb. college defensive back. (605 went down after this set and we expect a lot more to go down before August!)

Trap Bar Deadlift Record
College Division, over 220 lbs.

Our old record in this division was 610 lbs. Below you will see an athlete DESTROYING 615 lbs.!

Don’t blink!!!

After that set we obviously knew that he had a lot more in him. Our OVERALL record in the trap bar deadlift was 675 lbs. I didn’t think that this record would ever be broken.

Apparently, I was wrong…

680 lb. trap bar deadlift!

As you can see, the freaks are starting to arrive and we expect the strongest summer in DeFranco’s Training history!
